The Ephesus Experience Museum, awarded in the USA

The Ephesus Experience Museum has been awarded in the US as the best museum in the world by the Mondo-Dr Awards 2024, one of the world’s most distinguished awards in the field of technology, design and exhibitions, Turkey’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism has announced.

In a statement quoted by the Anatolia news agency, the ministry said the immersive museum in Ephesus – an ancient Greco-Roman city whose ruins have been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site – stood out at this year’s edition of the prestigious awards, which were presented at a ceremony held on 12 June in Las Vegas; organised by the UK-based Modriale Publishing magazine, the Mondo-Dr Awards recognise the best projects and achievements with a special focus on the design of spaces, visitor experience and technological equipment.

The new museum in Ephesus, located in the ruins of the city of the same name just opposite the ancient theatre, managed to beat other exhibition centres such as the Eternal Mucha in Paris or the Carl Nielsen Museum in Denmark, competing in the final with the Aramco VIP Visitor Centre in Riyadh, India in Fashion or the Dome Des in Paris, thus winning the 2024 award in the museum category, which last year was won by the Museum of the Future in Dubai.

The Ephesus Experience Museum stands out for immersing visitors in an inclusive and immersive audiovisual experience that fills their senses, using state-of-the-art technology to show what the city of Ephesus was like and the daily life of its inhabitants during its age of splendour in the time of the Roman Empire, when it was one of the world’s main trading centres. The museum is open every day of the week from 8:00 am to 11:30 pm, so tourists have the opportunity to visit and experience what Ephesus was like in ancient times also at night.
