Cats are used to climbing trees or roofs, and sometimes they get trapped and have to be rescued. But in Sungurlu, a small town in the Çorum province, in central Turkey, there is a unique case: a cat climbed on a roof 4 years ago, and there it is… There is no apparent reason why it should not go down: simply, the feline has decided that this is her home (it has turned out to be female). After several unsuccessful attempts to lower the cat by firefighters, and even neighbours themselves, they have decided to let her live there, and take care of her. Fortunately for the cat, the roof is in the middle of a bazaar so she is never short of food, which shop assistants and customers throw on the roof. “She meows constantly, as if she was begging, when no one leaves her food,” says a shop owner.
