Sinan Oğan to decide this week whether to support Erdoğan or Kılıçdaroğlu

Sinan Oğan, the ultranationalist candidate of the ATA alliance who obtained a surprising result in the Turkish presidential elections held on May 14, confirmed last night in a televised interview that he will decide this week whether to support Erdoğan or Kılıçdaroğlu for the 2nd round, scheduled for May 28, for which he cited 4 conditions: “Fight against all kinds of terrorist organizations… Set a schedule for the return of refugees… Maintain the HDP (which supports Kılıçdaroğlu) and Hüda-Par (who supports Erdoğan) out of government… Guarantee that the first 4 articles (principles of the Republic) and Art. 66 (Turkish citizenship) of the Constitution will never be amended.”

Asked about a favorite, Oğan assured that “we almost agree” on who to support, and added that for him the important thing is to create a strong government where Turkish nationalists, and not the HDP or the Hüda-Par, hold the key to the government. Regarding the final decision, he announced that “we will announce it in 1 or 2 days.”
