It is a fact that Turkish series have become a worldwide success, and that they are a good way to promote Turkey as a travel destination; taking advantage of this quality, the tourism portal GoTürkiye – Turkey’s official tourism website – has sponsored a new 10-episode Turkish series, entitled ‘Antalya Gambit’, which seeks to promote the wonders of this tourist region of the Turkish Mediterranean coast.
Turkish media reported that the miniseries, promoted by the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism, is an original and different way to promote Antalya as a tourist destination through a filmed story, in which the viewer is told a plot while environments and landscapes of a place like Antalya are shown, including its beautiful beaches, its Mediterranean landscapes or its numerous archaeological and historical remains.
Directed by Bertan Başaran, the series stars the famous German-born Turkish actress and model Meryem Uzerli – known for her role as Hürrem Sultan in the famous Turkish series Muhteşem Yüzyıl (‘The Magnificent Century’) – who plays the role of Lara; alongside her, the other main character is another well-known actor, Kaan Urgancıoğlu – whom we saw in the popular Turkish series Yargı (‘Family Secrets’) – who in his case plays Deniz, a mysterious and enigmatic architect.
A series full of mystery, romance… and the wonders of Antalya.
The series begins in the first episode when Lara, enjoying a day at the beach, saves Deniz’s life as he apparently and for a strange reason falls into the sea while both are at a luxury resort in Antalya: a first encounter in which the attraction between the two quickly develops.
What initially seems to be a coincidence and a chance of destiny that leads to a love story, is soon revealed as a more complicated plot full of surprises related to an important art auction, taking place between the ancient ruins, the sunny beaches and the magical nights of Antalya.
In short, an exciting mix of mystery, culture and romance, full of dynamism, intrigue and a few touches of humour, in which at the same time that we enjoy an entertaining Turkish mini-series we discover the wonders of Antalya together with the two main characters. The series is now available for free on GoTürkiye’ s YouTube channel (subtitles in other languages can be viewed by activating subtitles). We wish ‘Antalya Gambit’ the same resounding success as another new Turkish series: Uzak Şehir ( Far City).
