More than 85 million passengers flew last year with Turkish Airlines (THY), Turkey’s state-owned airline – 2.1% more than the previous year, according to a statement released yesterday about the airline, which currently has a fleet of 492 aircraft and flies to 52 domestic and 268 international destinations in 131 countries around the world.
According to figures published by the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) and reported in Turkish media, a total of 85.2 million travellers flew last year with Turkish Airlines, which carried 31.7 million international passengers between January and December, 6.4% up from 2023.
Last December alone, the Turkish airline carried 6.4 million passengers, 5.3% more than in the same month last year; as for the number of international passengers, it grew last month by 6.2% to 2.8 million. As for THY’s aircraft occupancy factor, it grew by 0.4% in 2024 to 82.2%, with 81.8% on international flights and 85.8% on domestic flights.
Turkish Airlines further reported that its air cargo subsidiary, Turkish Cargo, carried 2 million tonnes of cargo and mail during 2024, 20.6% up compared to 2023, when the airline carried 1.7 million tonnes.
