Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen visited Turkey today on a trip of support and solidarity to the Eurasian country after the devastating earthquakes that have caused nearly 32,000 deaths. Cohen, who met with his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Çavuşoğlu in Ankara and later with Turkish President Erdoğan, reiterated that Israel “will do everything possible to provide aid to Turkey”, assuring that he has received “hundreds of calls” from Israelis to send aid and welcome Turks who have lost their homes due to the earthquake. “Turkey helped Israel in the Mount Carmel fire 11 years ago. You sent your planes, and we thank you again,” he recalled. Cohen, who is scheduled to visit Kahramanmaraş where Israel has built a field hospital, is the 4th foreign foreign minister to visit Turkey after the earthquakes, preceded by Greece, the UAE and Libya.
