The heavy snowfall over the last few days in Istanbul has caused serious complications for traffic and transport by sea and road, and has forced the cancellation of hundreds of flights at the city’s airports due to the accumulation of ice and snow.
The worst of the cold and snow storm seems to be over, however, and schools reopened in the Turkish metropolis on Monday, although the risk of ice persists until tomorrow due to the low night-time temperatures. But temperatures will start to rise from tomorrow, and in Istanbul and most of Turkey, no rain or snow is expected until Friday, except on the country’s west coast.
Even so, and despite the difficulties caused by the snowfall, the beauty of Istanbul covered in white snow is undeniable, as can be seen in all its splendour in this video. The city on the Bosphorus is beautiful at any time of the year… Including in winter.
