Hatayspor sports director found dead after earthquake in Turkey

After two weeks of uncertainty, the lifeless body of the sports director of the Hatayspor football club, Taner Savut, was finally found yesterday among the ruins of his home in Rönesans, a luxury apartment block in the city of Antakya where Christian Atsu, a Hatayspor footballer whose body appeared a few days ago, also lived. “I am in indescribable pain for the loss of our Hatayspor sports director, my valued colleague, my brother with a beautiful heart, Taner Savut. You will always be remembered with great love and respect,” said Volkan Demirel, the club’s current technical director. Hatayspor, a team from the first division of the Turkish league, announced two weeks ago that it will not continue playing this season due to the disaster caused by the earthquake in southeastern Turkey.
