As feared for days, the lifeless body of Ghanaian soccer player Christian Atsu, currently a Hatayspor player, was found today Saturday among the ruins of Rönesans, a luxury apartment block where he lived in the city of Antakya, where the last February 6 he was surprised at dawn by the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that has caused almost 40,000 deaths in Turkey to date. “We have found his lifeless body. His belongings are still being recovered. His phone was also found,” confirmed Murat Uzunmehmet, his manager in Turkey. Atsu, 31, former player of Newcastle, had arrived in September last year at Hatayspor, a team that last week announced its withdrawal from the league for the remainder of the season due to the disaster. “We will not forget you Atsu. Peace be with you, you are a beautiful person. There are no words to describe our sadness. Rest in peace,” the club said in a statement.
