Greece and Turkey have agreed to support each other to promote their respective candidacies in international institutions, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu announced yesterday after meeting in Brussels with his Greek counterpart Nikos Dendias, during the donors’ conference for Turkey and Syria. The agreement, in the framework of the positive relations between Athens and Ankara after the mutual solidarity shown after the earthquakes in Turkey and the collision of two trains in Greece, will begin to be applied to support the Turkish candidacy for the General Secretariat of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), and the Greek candidacy as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the 2025-2026 period.
