Turkey introduced yesterday Mezopotamya (Mesopotamia), the new brand with which it seeks to boost tourism in southeastern Anatolia, including the provinces of Adıyaman, Batman, Diyarbakır, Gaziantep, Kilis, Mardin, Siirt, Şanlıurfa and Şırnak. The southeastern region of Turkey has immense historical value, often unknown: here Humanity built its first cities and kingdoms and numerous civilisations arose; it is in southeastern Anatolia where we find places such as Göbeklitepe (the oldest sanctuary of Humanity), the spectacular mountain-tomb of Mount Nemrut, the Zeugma mosaics museum (the largest in the world), the historic city of Mardin, Balikli Göl (the sacred pool of Abraham), the ruins of Harran, the impressive Diyarbakır historic walls (World Heritage Site), or the historic Hasankeyf.
