Galatasaray is the new leader of the Turkish league after Fenerbahçe stumbled since the latter could only get a draw before Alanyaspor on Sunday in a hard-fought match that at times made life difficult for İsmail Kartal‘s team, despite playing at its Şükrü Saracoğlu stadium in Istanbul.
Loide Augusto scored the first goal of the game to put the Alanya side ahead after just 12 minutes, keeping the visitors in the lead throughout the second half. After the break, Tadić equalised shortly after the start of the second half with a disputed penalty, and the Yellow Canaries took the lead when 10 minutes later Bosnian striker Edin Džeko headed making the 2-1. But the joy was short-lived, as just four minutes later Augusto reappeared and scored a magnificent goal that stunned the entire defence of the Fener.
The draw allows Galatasaray – who has been equalised with Fenerbahçe on points for at least four rounds – to move ahead in the standings, thanks to its Saturday’s win over Başakşehir in a match in which Barış Alper Yılmaz shone. Thus, the Lions are once again reigning in the Turkish Super League.
