Formula 1 will return to the Istanbul Park circuit in Istanbul in early October 2027, as officially announced by the organisers, bringing an end to months of anticipation and confirming the return of the Turkish Grand Prix after a six-year absence from the championship.
Officials from Formula 1 have officially announced the 2027 FIA Formula One World Championship calendar, and it has been confirmed that Istanbul Park will host the FORMULA 1 TURKISH GRAND PRIX from 1 to 3 October 2027, as reported on the website of the Turkish Automobile Sports Federation (TOSFED).
The Turkish Grand Prix will begin with practice and qualifying on 1 and 2 October, whilst on Sunday 3 October, after a long absence, the five red lights will light up once more at the Istanbul circuit.
Istanbul Park will host the Turkish Grand Prix for the tenth time
After six years, the excitement of F1 will once again bring together the world’s best drivers and thousands of fans in Istanbul – a city unique in the world not only for being situated on two continents but also for hosting one of the most iconic circuits in Formula One. For the tenth time in its history, the Turkish Grand Prix will be held at Istanbul Park, one of the most technically demanding circuits in the championship.
The drivers will compete on a circuit of approximately 5.3 kilometres, characterised by significant elevation changes and overtaking opportunities, which poses a challenge both to the performance of the single-seaters and to the skill and stamina of the drivers.
Designed by the renowned architect Hermann Tilke, the circuit runs anti-clockwise and is particularly famous for its challenging Turn 8. Its four distinct corners push the drivers to their limits and have helped make Istanbul Park a world-famous circuit, highly praised by both drivers and fans alike, who will be able to enjoy moments of great intensity thanks to the combination of speed, pace and difficulty of the track.
F1 returns to Turkey until 2031
With the return of Formula 1 to Turkey, Istanbul will once again host one of the world’s most prestigious sporting events. The race is expected to make a significant contribution to sports tourism, the city’s economy, its visibility in the international media and Turkey’s brand value as a country.
The agreement to bring Formula 1 back to Istanbul was announced last April, with the Turkish government, Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali and FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem confirming that there will be races for “at least five years”, guaranteeing that races will be held until the end of the 2031 season. Pre-registration for the sale of tickets for the Turkish F1 Grand Prix is now open on the official website.
