Fenerbahçe, who has been knocked out of the Champions League after being eliminated by Benfica, has already begun work to strengthen their midfield, and Mourinho has reportedly turned his attention to none other than Dani Ceballos, for whom the Turkish side has already made an offer to Real Madrid.
Reports published in the Turkish daily Hürriyet claim that, after the failure of the deal for Dani Ceballos to transfer to Marseille, the Turkish team saw a window of opportunity to get the 29-year-old Spanish player, who is looking for a team where he can get playing time in order to make a place in the Spanish national team ahead of the 2026 World Cup, and who ended up rejecting the deal with the French club.
The Turkish press claims that the team presided over by Ali Koç, which is also negotiating the signing of Belgian midfielder Youri Tielemans, has matched the offer made by the French side to Real Madrid to sign the Seville’s midfielder. The player, who has a contract until 2027 and who has been speculated about a possible return to Real Betis, would like to join a team where he can play regularly like Fenerbahçe, so the sporting director of the Turkish club, Devin Özek, is already pulling strings to convince the Spanish midfielder to go to Turkey.
Dani Ceballos has a contract in principle until 2027 with Real Madrid, a team he joined in 2017 on a transfer from Real Betis for €16.5m, although he played between 2019 and 2021 on loan at Arsenal. To match Marseille’s offer, Mourinho’s Fenerbahçe would have to offer at least the 15 million euros that the team presided over by Florentino Pérez was asking for in exchange; however, the player’s rejection of the deal with the French club has not gone down well at Real Madrid, which together with the uncertainty over his future, could facilitate and accelerate his possible departure to Turkey.
