The remains of a 1,400-year-old Byzantine basilica located under the waters of Lake İznik, the ancient city of Nicaea, have become much more visible thanks to the decline in contamination because of the coronavirus pandemic. Discovered in 2014, the basilica is submerged 2 meters underwater, and its finding was named in 2014 as one of the 10 greatest archaeological discoveries in the world.
