A group of beekeepers from Düzce, on the north coast of Turkey, found an unconscious and “drunk” bear in their hives after having consumed too much toxic honey, a honey that bees produce by collecting pollen from certain plants. Transported in a van, the animal was handed over to the gendarmerie, and after a veterinary examination and regaining consciousness, the bear was released again into the wild.
