After a forced reconciliation with the other 5 opposition parties grouped in the so-called National Alliance, which led her to accept the candidacy of Kılıçdaroğlu (CHP leader) in exchange for including the mayors of Istanbul and Ankara as vice presidents of the future government, İYİ Parti president Meral Akşener has once again raised a dissenting voice in the coalition by rejecting any alliance with the Kurdish nationalist party HDP, which has offered to negotiate its support for Kılıçdaroğlu in the May presidential elections. “The CHP can talk if it wants to with the HDP… but the HDP can never join the coalition or receive a ministry,” warned yesterday Akşener, who considers the HDP – which faces possible closure due to its ties to the PKK terrorist group – a “red line” to continue supporting the opposition alliance.
