5 workers were killed on Saturday by the explosion at a missile and explosives factory located some 40 kilometres outside of Ankara, as confirmed by the Turkish Ministry of Defense, which indicated that an investigation has been launched to clarify the causes of the accident. The explosion occurred at 8:45 in the morning local time (7:45 CET) and, according to the first indications, it was caused due to a chemical reaction during the dynamite production process, according to the first statements by the Governor of Ankara. The new Turkish Defense Minister, Yaşar Güler, reported the incident to Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan, who conveyed his condolences to the families of the deceased.
