At least 18 people were injured in an road accident in Turkey after a truck crashed into two buses carrying dozens of workers while both vehicles were stopped at a traffic light.
The accident occurred in the district of Saray, located in the European province of Tekirdağ about 100 km northwest of the city of Istanbul. It appears that the truck first hit a minibus – which suffered the most damage – stopped at the traffic light, and then another bus, also carrying a group of employees of another company, was also affected.
The accident, in which, in addition to many passengers, the drivers of both buses were also injured, required the intervention of numerous fire and medical personnel, who had to rescue one of the passengers who was trapped in the wreckage of the minibus involved in the collision.
Several of the injured were taken to hospitals in the area, according to Turkish media reports, although none of them were seriously injured. The accident forced the road to be temporarily closed. Police are investigating the cause of the crash, but Turkish media reported that it may have been caused by the truck running out of brakes.
