Yusufeli is a village nestled among the mountains in the province of Artvin, located in the Black Sea region of Turkey and bordering Georgia. The construction of the new and gigantic Yusufeli dam, recently inaugurated and which, at 275 meters high, is the highest in Turkey and the 5th highest in the world, has forced the complete relocation of its more than 7,000 inhabitants to another location. Meanwhile, the dam is filling up and the water continues rising: it has already reached 91 meters high, and many of the buildings of the old town have already been completely submerged, while Yusufeli little by little disappears under the water.
