Women from two villages in the Kırklareli province, in the Turkish Thrace region, have won the battle against the construction of a coal power plant, after the Turkish Ministry of the Environment announced the cancellation of the project after 2 years of protests by the local population (supported by environmental groups such as Greenpeace) against a plant that they claimed it would destroy the region’s natural wealth and their health.
