Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan proposed today that an international commission of experts including the UN and Turkey investigate the rupture of the Kakhovka dam, which has caused a human and ecological disaster in Kherson, flooding almost a hundred villages and forcing to evacuate more than 30,000 people. While Ukraine and Russia accuse each other of having deliberately caused the break of the dam, Erdoğan reportedly telephoned Zelensky and Putin to propose the establishment of “a commission with the participation of experts from the warring parties, the United Nations, and the international community, including Turkey, for a detailed investigation into the explosion at the Kakhovka dam,” the Turkish president’s office reported.
