Sources from the Turkish Defense Ministry confirmed the death yesterday of 6 Turkish soldiers in an attack carried out by members of the PKK/YPG terrorist group in northern Iraq. “53 terrorists have been neutralized (killed, wounded or captured) in the last week, including in Iraq and northern Syria, through the strategy of eliminating terrorism at its source that we are resolutely implementing,” an official from the ministry said in Ankara, adding that in the last year the total number of terrorists neutralized amounts to 995.
586 terrorists have been neutralized so far in northern Iraq in the Operation Claw-Lock (Pençe-Kilit, in Turkish), a major operation against the PKK presence in northern Iraq, launched by Turkey in April 2022.
