Pedro Sánchez travelled to Ankara yesterday accompanied by six ministers on the occasion of the VII High-Level Bilateral Meeting between Turkey and Spain. After being received in the presidential palace by Erdoğan, both countries signed several cooperation agreements in areas such as sports, renewable energy and energy efficiency, disasters and emergencies, water management, employment, or science. During the subsequent press conference, both presidents defined the relations between the two countries as “extraordinary” and as a “complete partnership“, underlining their desire to continue strengthening their ties. Sánchez reiterated Spain’s support for Turkey’s entry into the EU, which he assured would be very beneficial for Europe, while Erdoğan asked the 27 for “concrete steps” in its relations with Turkey.
