Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan made an official two-day visit accompanied by a large delegation to Saudi Arabia, invited by King Salman bin Abdulaziz, with which both countries try to mend their difficult relations and increase their cooperation in areas of mutual interest, such as health, energy, food security, agriculture, defence, finance or environment. Erdoğan, who was received at the royal palace in Jeddah, also met with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, in what is the first visit by the Turkish president since the 2018 murder in Turkey of Saudi dissident journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
