Strong storms accompanied by lightning and torrential rains hit Istanbul overnight on Saturday and Sunday morning, causing flooding and havoc in many city neighbourhoods and serious traffic complications. One of the most affected districts was Esenyurt, but Beykoz, Üsküdar, Ümraniye, Sarıyer, Şile, Beşiktaş, Kağıthane, Şişli, Zeytinburnu, Bağcılar and Fatih were also damaged.
