A strong storm of wind and rain hit Istanbul early today, especially affecting the districts on the European side of the city, including Sultangazi, Gaziosmanpaşa, Bakırköy, Bağcılar, Beyoğlu, Kağıthane, Bayrampaşa and Esenler; strong winds toppled billboards and trees and damaged houses and vehicles, also forcing several ferry lines to be cancelled.
