On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of its creation, the Google Maps platform has published a list of the most searched tourist places, museums and parks around the world broken down by country, thus also revealing which are the most searched destinations in Turkey.
As reported by Turkish media, the list revealed by Google Maps offers a total of 60 places of interest in Turkey broken down into three rankings, many of them located in Istanbul, Izmir, Ankara and Antalya. The list of the most sought-after tourist and archaeological sites features Istanbul’s famous Galata Tower at the top of the list, followed by the Anıtkabir Mausoleum in Ankara and the Basilica Cistern, also in the Turkish metropolis.

Other places that stand out in this first list are the terraces of Pamukkale, the Manavgat waterfalls in Antalya, the ruins of Ephesus in Izmir, or the historic centre of Bursa.
In the ranking of parks, the most searched parks in Turkey include Istanbul’s Gülhane Park at the top of the list, followed by another park of the city -Emirhan- and Ankara’s Güvenpark.

In the museum category, Google Maps searches in Turkey are led by Istanbul’s famous Topkapı Palace, followed by the Mevlana Museum in Konya and the well-known model park Miniatürk in Istanbul. Other highlights include the prehistoric sanctuary of Göbeklitepe in Şanlıurfa, the Göreme Open Air Museum (Cappadocia), the Istanbul Archaeological Museum, and the ruins of Hierapolis.
