Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, candidate of the Turkish opposition coalition running in the presidential elections, directly accused Russia of interfering in the elections in Turkey by creating false content to influence the elections. “You, Russian friends, are behind the inventions, conspiracies, fakes and videos that have appeared,” said Kılıçdaroğlu, coinciding with the announcement made yesterday by Muharrem İnce, one of the presidential candidates, to withdraw his candidacy due to pressure received but, above all, after an alleged sexual video about him appeared on the Internet 2 days ago.
Other voices from Kılıçdaroğlu‘s party, the CHP, have denounced the same interferences from Russia, while from Erdoğan’s AKP party, its spokesman Ömer Çelik asked the main opposition party to share any relevant information with the authorities “before speaking about a country based on rumors“. During a televised interview this Friday, Turkish Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu accused the United States of “interfering in these elections from the beginning”, pointing to Biden himself as responsible for the video that forced İnce’s resignation.
