Turkish banks‘ net profits rose to 65.6 billion liras (3.16 billion euros) during the January-February period this year, an increase of 68% over the same period last year, according to data published today by the Banking Supervision and Regulation Agency of Turkey (BDDK). The total assets of Turkish banks increased to 15 trillion liras (720 billion euros) in February, of which 8.1 trillion liras correspond to loans, a 6.3% more than a year ago. Currently 54 domestic and foreign companies operate in Turkey in the banking sector, employing more than 209,000 people.
