More than 300 Turkish citizens awaiting evacuation from Gaza

Up to 322 Turkish citizens are among the approximately 700 people waiting to be evacuated from Gaza to Turkey, Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmet Yıldız revealed yesterday during an appearance before the Turkish parliament’s foreign committee. The group also includes 104 Turkish Cypriots, as well as 214 family members of Turkish citizens.

The deputy minister further informed the committee that Turkey has already made numerous preparations to send aid to the region, including the establishment of a field hospital. Currently, Turkey has already prepared to send 5,000 blankets, 3,000 food packs and 20,000 medical supplies that are expected to enter Gaza through the Rafah crossing, once it is opened by the Egyptian authorities, which is expected to take place tomorrow, Saturday. The Turkish government may also send a hospital ship to the region to assist the Palestinian population.
