Annual inflation in Turkey eased in July to 31.75%, down from the 32.11% recorded in June, whilst prices rose by 1.78% compared with the previous month, according to official data published today by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK).
The overall Consumer Price Index (CPI) (2025=100) rose by 1.78% month-on-month in July 2026, marking a cumulative increase of 19.86% compared with December last year and a rise of 31.75% compared with the same month in 2025, according to the report published by TÜİK.
The average inflation rate over the last twelve months reached 31.90%, Turkey’s statistical agency also notes. Among the three expenditure groups with the greatest weighting in the index, housing, water, electricity and gas, and other fuels recorded the highest annual increase, at 40.32%.
As for the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, these rose by 37.53% year-on-year, whilst those for transport rose by 30.83%. On a monthly basis, transport costs rose by 2.59%, housing costs rose by 2.25% and food prices rose by 1.61%.
The disinflationary trend continues
Data published on Monday show that the disinflationary trend continues in Türkiye despite challenging global conditions, according to the Minister of Treasury and Finance, Mehmet Şimşek, who, in a post on social media platform X, highlighted that the rigidity of services inflation has been broken and assured that the Turkish government will make no concessions on fiscal discipline.
“Thanks to the measures we have adopted and the impact of the disinflation process, inflation in the services sector is proving less persistent,” he noted. “Whilst we are effectively managing the risks arising from geopolitical events, we are making no concessions on fiscal discipline or on our objective of achieving sustainable price stability in Turkey,” added Şimşek.
