A fire destroyed two boats used for tourist cruises that were anchored in the port of Alanya, a popular tourist destination in the province of Antalya on Turkey‘s Mediterranean coast. The fire initially originated on one of the ships, which was made of wood and burnt completely, and then spread to another ship, which was severely damaged by the flames.
The fire broke out in the early hours of the morning and spread rapidly, for reasons that are still unknown. Fire crews from Alanya and Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, as well as personnel from the Alanya Coast Guard, intervened to extinguish the fire, while other boat owners came to the scene to move their boats away from the fire, which is being investigated to determine whether it was arson. In any case, this is not the first time that a large fire has burnt down one of the boats used for tourist cruises in Alanya.
