In Sarıkamış, a small town in the Turkish province of Kars, in the extreme north-east of Anatolia, neighbours were able to record a bear that, after the end of winter hibernation, came in the middle of the night accompanied by her cubs in search of food, ignoring the barking of the dogs. After wandering the streets for a while, the brown bear returned with its cubs to the woods.
