Turkey’s Minister of Agriculture and Forestry announced today that all major wildfires in Turkey have been extinguished, after 15 days in which more than 240 fires have been unleashed. “They have been the biggest fires in our history,” said the minister, who defined what happened as a “catastrophe.” The damage is still being assessed, but it is believed that about 60,000 hectares could have burned, especially in the southern provinces of Antalya and Muğla, where 9 people died as a result of the fire.
