These are the most polluted neighborhoods in Istanbul

Data collected by the air pollution measurement stations in Istanbul have made it possible to establish which were the neighborhoods and districts of Istanbul with the worst air quality. In 2022, the highest pollution was recorded in the Göztepe neighborhood in the Kadıköy district, reaching a concentration of PM10 particles of 97.6 µg/m3, when the WHO recommends not exceeding 20 µg/m3; Sultangazi and Esenyurt districts followed as the most polluted. On the contrary, the area with the least pollution in Istanbul was the Kandilli neighborhood in Üsküdar, followed by the island of Büyükada, and the districts of Sarıyer and Şile.
