Beşiktaş achieved a draw in the derby against Trabzonspor

Trabzonspor remains the undisputed leader of the Turkish league and is already 13 points away of its pursuer. Fenerbahçe thrashed in Kayseri.

Beşiktaş managed to get a draw in the derby played on Sunday against Trabzonspor, the undisputed leader of the Turkish league, in a match played in Trabzon in which the Black Eagles played the last 10 minutes with one less on the pitch because of a controversial direct red card.

After a goalless first half in which neither team managed to score at the Medical Park stadium in Trabzon, in the 56th minute of the game Andreas Cornelius escaped and, on the edge of the area, made a beautiful lob on Çakır, Beşiktaş goalkeeper, establishing the 1-0 on the scoreboard.

10 minutes later, the referee signalled a clear penalty from Ömür on the Algerian Rachid Ghezzal, who was responsible for launching Batshuayi but ended up crashing into the left post, losing Beşiktaş the opportunity to equalise.

However, in minute 71 the Istanbul team saw their efforts culminate when Valentin Rosier, after a play started in the midfield, entered the area like lightning from the right wing and launched a cross kick that crossed the rival goal, equalising the match. Quite a goal.

Controversial red card

9 minutes later, in the 80th minute, Beşiktaş was left with one less player on the pitch after Cyle Larin was sent off with a direct red card following an alleged slap against the Greek midfielder Emmanouil Siopis. Larin protested – possibly rightly – that he got a red while Siopis, who grabbed him and even made a good theatrical performance by throwing himself to the ground in pain, only got a yellow.

With this result in the derby against Trabzonspor, Beşiktaş adds a point and moves up one place to 7th. For its part, the “Black Sea Storm” has already accumulated 71 points and is the undisputed leader of the Turkish league, taking 13 points from its immediate pursuer, Konyaspor.
