Istanbul, baby born in the Eurasia Tunnel

Baby born in Istanbul in the Eurasia Tunnel, between two continents

A couple driving through the Eurasia Tunnel in Istanbul, which connects Europe and Asia through the Bosphorus Strait underwater, emerged from the underwater tunnel with one more member after the woman gave birth to her baby between two continents. Seda Giray, a teacher by profession, and her husband Deniz left home on their way to the hospital at 8am in the morning, in the middle of rush hour, when the labor pains began; despite the help of the police, the woman eventually ended up giving birth in the middle of the tunnel to a boy, whose umbilical cord was cut by nurses in the same car when they finally arrived at the hospital. “I entered the Eurasia Tunnel while pregnant, and when I came out our son was on my lap, he had been born,” said the woman speaking of the “unforgettable” birth.
