Turkey’s tourism revenues hit a record high during the first six months of 2025 to reach $25.8 billion, up 7.6% compared to the same period in 2024, according to official data released today by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK).
According to the report published in the last few hours by TÜİK, in the second quarter of the year alone – from April to June – tourism revenues grew by 8.4% compared to the equivalent period of the previous year to reach $16.28 billion. Overall, according to data published by several Turkish agencies, Turkey welcomed 26.39 million tourists in the first six months of the year – up 1% compared to the first half of 2024 – mainly from Russia (2.61 million), Germany (2.42 million) and the UK (1.75 million).
At the same time, in the first six months of this year the Eurasian country earned tourism revenues of $25.78 billion, which is the highest figure ever recorded for this period of the year and 7.6% more than in 2024.
The average length of stay was 10 nights, while average spending per night increased by 9% over last year to $101. Overall, tourist spending across all categories showed a significant increase: package tours accounted for 31% of all tourism receipts, followed by food and beverage (19.4%) and international transport (12.8%). Compared to last year, spending increased by 13.8% on international transport, 13.7% on food and beverages and 12.5% on tourism services.
Turkey aims to welcome 65 million tourists this year
As for the reason for travelling to Turkey, according to data presented by the official statistics agency, 71.1% of tourists came for leisure, entertainment, sports or cultural activities, 16.8% to visit family or friends, and 5.6% for shopping. Travel to Turkey to visit relatives is precisely the main motive among Turkish expatriates visiting the country, with 60.7% doing so for this purpose.
Referring to these good figures, Turkey’s Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, stressed that these were “the highest tourism revenues ever recorded in the first half of the year” and expressed his confidence in reaching the target set by his ministry, set for this year to welcome 65 million tourists and generate $64 billion in tourism revenues.
