A woman and her son died in Zonguldak province, northwest Turkey, after torrential rains over the weekend triggered a landslide that caused the house they lived in to collapse on its occupants. The victims were identified as Perihan Çakar, 82, and his son Sait Çakar, 51. Later, while rescue teams were working at the scene, a second landslide injured 21 people, six of whom remain hospitalised. The authorities warn that after 50 hours of continuous rainfall in the region, the risk of such accidents is extremely high.
