In the midst of a heat wave that has left record temperatures in southern Turkey, Turkish firefighters have been fighting for 3 days to control a forest fire that has burned some 100 hectares and forced to evacuate several villages in the province of Hatay, in Samandağ district and on the outskirts of Antakya. About 800 firefighters supported by two seaplanes and 12 helicopters fight the flames, which have caused no casualties but are being fanned by heat and changing winds.
