Turkey’s exports to Spain exceed $10 billion for the first time

Turkey’s annual exports to Spain exceeded $10 billion for the first time in history last year, after registering an increase of more than 10% compared to the previous year, driven by positive developments in bilateral relations, a report published last weekend said.

The continuous improvement of relations between Spain and Turkey was directly reflected in bilateral trade during 2025, placing Spain as the seventh largest destination for Turkish exports. Spain was also among the 55 target countries designated by the Turkish Ministry of Trade for 2025 and, despite the weaknesses of the European economy, Spanish demand – especially for industrial products – remained strong over the past year.

Turkish Minister of Trade, Ömer Bolat, confirmed the data in a publication shared on social networks, reported by Turkish media, in which he valued very positively the evolution of trade relations between Turkey and Spain.

Bolat stressed that a strong Türkiye, which is increasing its export weight in sectors ranging from industry to automobiles, continues to play a relevant role in world trade: “The fact that Turkey’s exports to Spain have exceeded 10 billion dollars for the first time, is a concrete indicator of our solid and stable economic progress. We are moving forward with determination towards our goals to turn the ‘Turkish Century’ into the ‘century of trade‘, proudly reaching and surpassing the set targets one by one”.

Spain, 7th largest destination for Turkish exports

Spain ranked 7th as Türkiye’s export destination, with a share of 3.7% of Turkey’s total exports in 2025, according to information published by the Anatolia news agency based in turn on data from the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly (TIM), which also indicates that exports to Spain increased by 10.4% in 2025 compared to 2024.

A sector-by-sector analysis of exports to Spain last year shows that the automotive industry led the ranking with 3.4 billion dollars, followed by textiles and clothing with 1.7 billion, chemicals with 1.3 billion, electricity and electronics with 716.6 million, and steel, with Turkish exports worth 685.2 million dollars.

In terms of value, the largest increases were recorded in the automotive industry with $907.6 million, followed by steel with $61.5 million and mining products with $47.9 million. Overall, Turkey‘s total exports of goods to Spain grew by 4.5 % year-on-year to reach 273.4 billion dollars in 2025, marking a new all-time high.
