Turkey: progress in cleaning of marine mucilage covering the Marmara

Efforts to clean the marine mucilage that has covered the Sea of Marmara for months are beginning to bear its fruits, and the presence of this substance, also called sea snot, has decreased significantly in several areas of the sea. This has already made it possible to fish, bathe or simply walk along the sea in many coastal areas. Just last June, more than 10,000 tons of mucilage – a substance formed by microorganisms due to the warming of the sea and pollution, which suffocates all marine life – were collected.
