Turkey currently has 531 Blue Flag beaches, according to data recently released by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, highlighting Antalya – a tourist resort on the Turkish Mediterranean coast – as the province with the most Blue Flags in the world, with a total of 229 beaches. After Antalya, the province with the most Blue Flags in Turkey is Muğla (111 beaches), while Izmir ranks third with 66 beaches. Turkey ranks third worldwide for number of beaches with this environmental and tourist award, awarded each year by the Foundation for Environmental Education.
