Turkey’s Meyil crater lake turns pink

The Meyil crater lake (Meyil Obruk Gölü, in Turkish), located in the Konya province, in central Turkey, has turned pink due to the proliferation of bacteria because of the increase in temperatures and the drop in levels of water during the summer. Lake Meyil is a saline lake actually formed by the collapse of the roof of a natural underwater reservoir, and has a total diameter of 1 km. Its unusual colour is a focus of attraction for tourists and curious people.
