A total of 22 balloons with all kinds of shapes and colours coming from 12 countries flew over the skies of the tourist region of Cappadocia in Turkey for the celebration of the Cappadocia Balloon Festival and Cultural Route, organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and which lasted for 9 days until last Sunday, August 13.
More than a million people attended the more than 300 cultural events organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey in 40 different places in the Cappadocia region, which culminated during the last two days with the spectacle of dozens of balloons with all kinds of figures – representing a duck, the Turkish flag, an ice cream, a spaceship, an octopus, Obelix… – rising over the region of Goreme. Another similar festival is scheduled to be held at the Byzantine Sümela Monastery in Trabzon.
