The Ministry of Tourism and Culture has released data on Turkey’s most visited museums and historical sites for the first seven months of this year. The figures show that the Mevlana Museum in Konya was the most visited museum between January and July 2023, with 1.66 million tourists, followed in 2nd place by the ruins of the ancient city of Ephesus with 1.15 million visitors, and the archaeological site of Hierapolis – located next to Pamukkale – in third place, with 1.1 million tourists.
Istanbul’s famous Galata Tower (749,950 visitors) and the ruins of Göreme in Cappadocia (528,030 visits) make the top 5 of the most visited museums in Turkey. At the same time, sales of the MüzeKart/MuseumPass museum card – which allows free entry to more than 300 museums and tourist sites in Turkey – registered a record increase between January and July of this year reaching 2.1 million units, according to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
