Tourist arrivals to Turkey grew by 14% this year

Foreign tourist arrivals to Turkey grew by 14% so far this year, according to data released this Friday by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, which expects the good tourist arrival figures to continue into the autumn as well. In total, more than 33.4 million visitors arrived in Turkey between January and August: a 13.95% than in the same period last year.

In August alone, tourist arrivals to Turkey exceeded 6.66 million visitors, up 5.65% compared to the same month last year. The main countries of origin of tourists visiting Turkey in this period were Russia (4.3 million tourists in total, 44.84% more than last year), followed by Germany (4.1 million) and the UK (2.65 million visitors). The Turkish government expects a record 60 million tourists by the end of the year, and tourism revenues to reach $56 billion.
