Turkish authorities have opened an investigation after residents of various districts of the city of İzmir, the third largest in Turkey, were in shock in the middle of the month of Ramadan over the public play in several mosques of the Italian protest song “Bella Ciao“. The first investigations point to a computerised sabotage of the centralised system from which the call to Islamic prayer (adhan) is issued.
