The new peace talks between Russia and Ukraine began at Istanbul’s Dolmabahçe Palace, where Turkish President Erdoğan announced that Turkey is willing to host a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian Vladimir Putin, to whom Erdoğan referred as “valued friends”. “There will be no losers, if there is a fair peace agreement,” said the Turkish president, who reminded both sides that the world looks with hope to Istanbul for the end of the war. On Monday, Erdoğan himself assured that after holding telephone conversations with Zelenskyy and Putin, “things are going in a favorable direction.”
